The OnePlus 13 display appears in all its glory

OnePlus 13 has been in the spotlight for months thanks to numerous leaks and rumors. Now, some official details have finally been revealed. Louis Lee, CEO of OnePlus China, recently shared the first look of the OnePlus 13 on Weibo. The photo shows only the front of the phone, specifically the display panel with a small cutout in the top center. Although the bezels appear quite narrow, it is difficult to make a full assessment as the device shown is not fully assembled.

The OnePlus 13 will debut with BOE’s second-generation Oriental Screen, a significant improvement over the display of its predecessor, the OnePlus 12. The first-generation Oriental Screen on the OnePlus 12 offered impressive specifications, including a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, 3168x1440p resolution, 120 refresh rate Hz, 2160Hz high frequency PWM dimming and 510PPI pixel density. While details about the second-generation screen have not been fully revealed yet, it is expected to build on these already impressive specs, further improving the display experience on the OnePlus 13.

Alleged OnePlus 13 specifications

Li Jie, president of OnePlus, stated that the second-generation OnePlus 13’s Oriental screen will deliver performance that “far exceeds others.” While he didn’t provide many specific details, the statement points to a significant improvement over the already remarkable display on the OnePlus 12. What exactly makes it better remains unknown for now, but expectations for this new screen technology are high big.

Apart from the screen improvements, a recent leak revealed the OnePlus 13’s rear design, which shows a prominent camera area. This design marks a change from the OnePlus 12’s camera module. It blends seamlessly into the edge of the phone, suggesting that the OnePlus 13 will have a more distinctive camera housing.

News of the week from Gizchina

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 13 is expected to feature the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor paired with a whopping 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The device will be powered by a large 6,000 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. The front of the display will likely be equipped with a second-generation oriental BOE screen. Unfortunately, the exact performance details of the new screen are still shrouded in mystery.

Great performance with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

The OnePlus 13 should deliver noteworthy performance thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The new chipset will feature a “supercharged” Oryon processor as Qualcomm abandons ARM in favor of its proprietary architecture. It will have an improved NPU (Neural Processing Unit). Oryon cores appeared in the Snapdragon X Elite laptop chipset. So theoretically, the thought of a mobile version of this SoC is impressive. Leaks suggest that the SoC will be clocked at up to 4.0 GHz. Other rumors indicate that it will be at a frequency exceeding 4.3 GHz. With it, smartphones equipped with it will achieve a single score of around 3500 on Geekbench. In terms of performance, OnePlus 13 will be miles ahead of its predecessor.

The camera setup will include a 32-megapixel front camera. There will be a triple camera system on the back: a 50-megapixel LYT-808 matrix with OIS. It will also feature a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle LYT-600 lens. Finally, we will have another 50-megapixel LYT-600 lens with 3x periscope zoom. Other notable features of the OnePlus 13 include an IP69-rated casing, metal frame, alert slider, and 0916 Turbo Touch Engine, making it a solid contender in the flagship smartphone market.

The phone is expected to appear at the end of October

According to reports, OnePlus 13 should be presented at the end of October. The smartphone should ship with the first wave of flagships equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Of course, it will be released in China first. The global premiere could take place only next year. This is just speculation and may change. Like its predecessor, the OnePlus 13 is expected to be the company’s only smartphone for the flagship market. We won’t see a Pro variant on it.

We hope to have more details soon. OnePlus is likely to launch a teaser campaign for its upcoming device.
