ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) – Families and their furry friends were invited to Elkhart for a day of activities at this year’s “Waggin’ in the Woods.”

This community event at the Elkhart Environmental Center was perfect for our four-legged friends and their owners as it provided a picturesque backdrop for outdoor activities and a variety of dog-related fun activities.

Attendees could take long walks on select trails, watch K-9 demonstrations, and check out what dozens of pet vendors had to offer.

“For this local event, we are partnering with Tracking in the Shadows, a local dog rescue organization. So if there are dogs wandering around or the humane society can’t get out, they will send out trails and find the dog,” said Annie Klehfoth, environmental projects coordinator. “And then they train them, put them through the placement process, place them in foster homes and adopt them into the community.”

Admission to the fun was free, and donations in the form of animal supplies supported the Shadow Tracking campaign.
