Kimball’s loss of powers does not stop the return of the Dragon Head

KIMBALL, W.Va. (WVVA) – The manager of the Dragon Festival, Kimball’s annual fall event, encountered unexpected problems as the town was one of many places affected by power outages caused by severe weather.

Despite this loss of power, the city continued its annual event on Saturday.

While there was a noticeable lack of participants this year, Kimball Police Chief Dalton Martin says about five to 10 vendors still participated and used generators to keep events running relatively smoothly.

Despite the destruction in the area, Chief Martin says it’s important to give Kimball residents something to look forward to during these times.

“Well, it’s been quite devastating for the community… they’re going through a difficult time. Some citizens are going out today to find places to charge some of their phones and other things, so we are helping them with that as well…”

In addition to vendors, there was also a stilt walker, a video game truck and a performance by the Premiere Wrestling League, which took part for the first time this year.

“A lot of people come here to see the show, lots of smiles and happy faces, and that’s what we expect from wrestling,” says Evan Golden, a professional wrestler with the Premiere Wrestling League.

The name of the Dragon Head Festival comes from the motorcycle ride that passes through the area.
