The National Weather Service in Shreveport confirms that 19 tornadoes hit the area during Beryl

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – 67 warnings. 19 tornadoes.

That’s what ArkLaTex had to deal with as Beryl moved through the region Monday, July 8, after hitting the Texas coast as a Category 1 hurricane.

In Benton, power lines were downed and trees were uprooted, forcing many residents to scramble to recover.

The National Weather Service office in Shreveport confirmed 19 tornadoes on Thursday, July 11. The office issued a record 67 warnings that day. KSLA’s First Alert weather team stayed live during all of these warnings, informing the public of the threats for more than seven hours.

One of the 19 tornadoes killed a woman. She was 30 years old. Her two young children and mother were also injured when at least two trees fell on their property in Benton.
