Are banks closed today? View state festival lists here

As everyone gears up for Navratri, Durga Puja and a slew of festivals scheduled in October, it is important to keep track of the official holidays for banks and the market to avoid any inconvenience.

The official list of public holidays is published by the RBI and available on the central bank’s website. When it comes to public holidays, October 2, 2024 is a national holiday and banks across the country will be close to celebrating the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.

Moreover, even the stock market is closed on Wednesday due to this holiday. There are three national holidays celebrated in India, namely Republic Day on January 26, Independence Day on August 15 and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. On these holidays, banks are closed all over the country.

In addition to public holidays, banks also observe weekend holidays, which include all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. The list released by the Reserve Bank of India covers these festivals apart from regional festivals.

For example, banks in Rajasthan will be closed on October 3, 2024 also for the Navratra Sthapna festival. Other holidays scheduled in the month based on festivals are listed below.
