Antiques and Collectibles Fair

• The Armada Historical Society is hosting the “Show Us What You’ve Got” Antiques and Collectibles Show from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13 at Grange Hall on the Fairgrounds. Armada, 74280 Fair Street, Armada. Learn about what people like to collect and what items are in the Armada Area Historical Society’s collection. Arts Guild Meeting

• The Washington Art Guild meets October 7 at the Romeo Community Center, 361 Morton Street, in the North Room. Please use the Morton Street car park and enter the building through the right door, which is on the northeast corner of the building. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and socializing. Business meeting at 7 p.m. The session is a workshop. Participants work on images that will then be exhibited at the Romeo Graubner Library. The canvases will be provided free of charge (approximately 8″x10″ format). Bring your paints and painting materials (watercolorists: please bring a support to attach your watercolor paper to the canvas or wood, or a support to prepare your canvas).

Baby shower event

• Michigan Macomb’s Right to Life Educational Resource Center will collect baby supplies from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 during an open house baby shower to benefit local pregnancy support centers. Blood collection

• Henry Ford Macomb Hospital will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 18, in Conference Room 3 on the fourth floor of the hospital’s Medical Pavilion, located at 16151 19 Mile Road in Clinton Township. Bottle and can drive

• Woman’s Life Chapter 855 hosts an ongoing bottle and drive with drop-off locations in Richmond and Memphis to help community members in need. They also offer a pickup service for larger donations. For more information, call 586-318-4053.

Cooking chili

• Father Kramer Knights of Columbus Council 2835 is hosting the third annual Chili Cook Off, noon to 3 p.m., Oct. 12 at Cloverleaf Bar and Restaurant, 24443 Gratiot Ave., Eastpointe. The event is free: you can enter a slow cooker of chili and all the toppings for your presentation. Costs $5 to taste. Proceeds will be donated to Knights of Columbus charities. Autumn Festival

• The Jack Frost Auto Museum, 61714 Campground Road in Washington Township, hosts a fall festival event from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on October 5. The event includes a classic car show, 50/50 raffle, live entertainment, hayride, bonfire, antique midway, barbecue and beer. (Non-alcoholic options available.) Euchre event

• The Lions Club of Sterling Heights will host the euchre tournament Oct. 11 at its clubhouse, 12828 Canal Road, in Sterling Heights. Food distribution event

• Hope for the Hungry Food Pantry through St. Peter Lutheran Church in Macomb will distribute food from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 3 and 1 to 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at 24125 26 Mile Road, Ray Township. This will be a drive-thru event and those receiving food are asked to show their driver’s license or state ID card. You must park in a parking space in the west parking lot and wait to be registered. Fundraising Events

• Comedy and Cocktails, an annual benefit event for Macomb Community College’s arts and cultural programs, will take place Friday, Oct. 18, at the Lorenzo Cultural Center and the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, located on the college’s central campus in the Clinton Township. Starts at the Lorenzo Cultural Center at 6 p.m. with music from the Kroon Trio, gourmet aperitifs, strolling dinners, a silent auction with moving bidding and raffle prizes. The event will be themed around a 1950s comedy club. At 8 p.m., guests will head to the Macomb Center and take their reserved seats to see comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood in Asking for Trouble, a comedy show from unscripted improvisation. Tickets are $175 each and include a premier theater seat at the Macomb Center. •The Butterfly Collective is hosting a “Dueling Pianos” fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on October 18 at the Fraternal Order of Police #124, located at 11304 14 Mile Road, Warren. The event includes live performances, silent auctions, raffles, appetizers and guest speakers. Tickets are $65 per person or $100 per couple and can be purchased online at Thebutterflycollective.org. The Butterfly Collective is a nonprofit organization that helps survivors of domestic violence in Southeast Michigan rebuild their lives.

Garden Club Event

• The Shelby Gardeners Club welcomes David Löwenstein, PhD, at 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Shadbush Nature Center, 4101 River Bends Drive, Shelby Township. Lowenstein will present “Making Your Garden a Haven for Beneficial Insects” and how to feed and maintain them so they come back.
