But thanks to OTT content, he is back to acting.

The news of her comeback with Raihan Rafi’s ‘Mayaa’ has gone viral on social media, with netizens expressing their excitement about the online film.

Coming back to the screens, Sarika reflects on the journey so far and her views on TV and OTT platforms.

From TV to OTT

In her second web film that was recently released on Binge, Sarika plays the main character named Mayaa. Despite the film’s title, the trailer actually revealed an exciting, turbulent story.

According to Sarika, her goal is to show the realities of a woman’s life and how she faces challenges while playing the role of Maya. It takes a lot of work to bring such a character to life, and she rose to the challenge.

“We all worked very hard on this project. We practiced for many days before shooting. We shot this movie at the end of last year,” she told us.

Sarika also recalled her comeback on TV – which was a completely different experience. From 17 projects in 2011 to just a handful in the last few years, her career has certainly changed.

When we asked what she thought about the disappointing reactions her TV comeback received, she explained that the amount of work she did didn’t reflect her success and that according to her, the reaction was quite satisfactory.

“My work is really noticed. I haven’t worked on a project consistently for 30 days in a row for many years. Now I usually take up roles during special Eid events or other special occasions,” she commented.

The nature of OTT platforms is evolving, becoming more and more popular. Many believe that this change in audience attention has led to the decline in popularity of television series.

But Sarika has a different opinion on this. “I don’t see it as the rise of one leading to the fall of the other. If a TV series is good, people will watch it anyway. However, I think it is good that OTT is growing.”

There were some rumors that she was acting in commercial films, and there was a lot of talk about her in the media. However, these discussions never turned into anything concrete.

Lately, it seems to be focusing more on OTT content. He is currently working on an OTT project directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad, the director of ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ fame.

She informed us that the shooting of the upcoming OTT has been completed but fans will have to wait a little longer for more details.

Not everything went smoothly

In November 2020, Sarika took up a new role by becoming the host of the talk show “Amar Ami” on Banglavision. Since then, he has been running it continuously, without interruption.

In the past, directors and producers from the acting industry accused her of violating her official duties.

In 2018, the Bangladesh Television Program Producers Association banned her for up to six months after producer Borhan Uddin Khan accused her of canceling shooting schedules.

However, in her four years of hosting, she did not miss a single schedule.

“There is no room for breaks in hosting. It’s a planned program. I took breaks from acting for personal reasons, but it wasn’t a complete break. Thanks to my involvement, I can maintain consistency and comfort in running the program,” she commented.

In today’s world, social media plays a huge role in most people’s lives, with platforms like Facebook and Instagram playing an important role.

However, despite being a media star, Sarika has not been on Facebook or Instagram for the last seven years. While this may come as a surprise to many, she revealed to TBS that she enjoys a life free from social media.

“Seven years ago my Facebook account was deactivated. Then I decided not to create a new one. Months and years passed and I realized I could live without him. So I decided to deactivate them for as long as possible. as I could.”

She continued: “Without social media, I have a lot more time for myself. I have no specific plans for when I will return to social media.”
