Choctaw Cultural Center Receives 2 State Awards

DURANT, Okay. (KSWO) – The Choctaw Cultural Center recently received two awards from the Oklahoma Museum Association’s 2024 Conference. This is the first time the facility has received awards from the Oklahoma Museum Association.

The cultural center won the Exhibitions category with its exhibition titled “Shomo Takali” (Hanging Moss), as well as the Publication category with its children’s magazine titled “Vlla im Anoli” (“Talk to the Child”).

“Educating people about the vibrant history of the Choctaw Nation is a critical part of our mission,” said Scott Wesley, DSL, senior director of the Choctaw Cultural Center. “We thank the Oklahoma Museum Association for recognizing the care and effort put into developing our cultural center.”
